BMW that flew off Mumbai bridge hit couple 6 months ago, video now goes viral

A video of a March collision involving the BMW that later plunged off Mumbai's Coastal Road bridge has surfaced online. The footage has renewed focus on an earlier complaint as police investigate Sunday's crash that killed three people.

The BMW that flew off a Mumbai bridge resulting in the deaths of three occupants, had hit a couple in a separate incident six months ago. A video recorded during the March incident has now surfaced and is going viral on social media.

Omkar Shirke had filed a complaint after the incident on March 29. Shirke was travelling with his wife when the BMW hit them.

Shirke also recorded a video of the incident at the time. The footage, now circulating widely on social media, shows Shirke and a man driving the BMW during the March incident.

The earlier complaint had been filed before Sunday’s accident, in which three occupants of a BMW were killed and another was critically injured after the high-end car plunged from Mumbai’s Coastal Road.

The accident took place at around 5 am on Sunday. According to the Coastal Road Control Room, the black BMW was travelling from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali when its driver lost control and the car fell from the elevated road, reportedly due to speeding.

CCTV footage showed the car flying off the elevated Coastal Road bridge and crashing into a construction site below.

Three occupants of the car died in the accident, while a fourth occupant, an unidentified man aged around 20, suffered severe injuries.

He is currently undergoing treatment in the trauma ward of a hospital and remains in critical condition.

A police probe is currently underway.
