ICAI opens applications for January 2025 CA exam observers; apply by November 20

ICAI is inviting applications from eligible members to serve as observers for the January 2025 Chartered Accountancy exams. Selected observers will play a crucial role in ensuring secure exam operations and receive an honorarium for their services.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has opened applications for eligible members to serve as observers for the upcoming Chartered Accountancy (CA) exams scheduled in January 2025. These exams will be held for the Foundation and Intermediate levels from January 11 to January 21, 2025 (except January 20). Members who meet the eligibility criteria can apply online at http://observers.icaiexam.icai.org.

The empanelment process will commence on October 25, 2024, and the deadline for application submission is November 20, 2024. Information about self-selection of observer assignments will be made available between late December 2024 and early January 2025.

Role and Responsibilities The primary responsibility of an observer is to ensure the secure collection and distribution of question paper packets from the designated bank to students at the exam centre. Observers must be present at the examination centre or assigned bank branch until the exam concludes.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The applicant must have been registered as a member of ICAI on or before July 1, 2022, and must not be over 65 years old.
Neither the applicant nor their relatives or dependents should be appearing in the January 2025 CA exams. However, applying for or appearing in ISA – AT is not a disqualification for this role.

The candidate must not be coaching students for any ICAI exams in any institution, including Regional Councils, ICAI branches, or private coaching centres.

The applicant must have a clean legal record with no convictions or pending disciplinary proceedings with ICAI or any other organisation.

The candidate should not be serving as an elected or co-opted member of any ICAI Council, Regional Council, or Branch Managing Committee.

Compensation for selected observers will receive an honorarium of Rs 3,000 per day per session, along with conveyance reimbursement of Rs 350 in 'A' class cities and Rs 250 in other locations. More details can be found on the ICAI's official website.
