A video of a school van being attacked with stones in Lucknow's Chowk area has surfaced on social media, with a woman claiming to have witnessed the incident alleging that a group deliberately targeted the vehicle, abused those inside and fled the spot.

The video shows shattered glass strewn across the seats of the school van, while schoolchildren stand outside looking visibly frightened. Another clip, filmed from inside the van through the shattered windows, appears to show youths on motorcycles dressed in saffron-coloured clothes and carrying saffron flags passing by as some schoolchildren remain seated inside the vehicle. A separate video shows a few youths running towards their motorcycles, mounting them and fleeing the scene.

The incident took place on the first Monday of the holy month of Sawan (August) in Lucknow's Chowk police station area, when schoolchildren were travelling in the van. The alleged attack left the children frightened and caused panic in the locality.

According to local residents, a group of youths riding motorcycles got into an argument over an unspecified issue. As the dispute escalated, they allegedly began throwing stones at the school van.

Eyewitnesses said passersby intervened to calm the situation, following which the accused fled.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Kamlesh Dixit said no child was injured in the incident. He said unidentified persons vandalised the school van near Charak Chauraha on Tuesday morning and fled before police reached the spot.

An FIR has been registered, and police said strict action would be taken against those responsible. Further legal proceedings are underway.

Station House Officer of Chowk police station, Nagesh Upadhyay, confirmed that minor students were inside the van at the time of the incident, but none sustained any injuries.
