Delhi man throws corrosive liquid at woman on way to work; arrested

A 24-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with diluted corrosive liquid near Delhi's Ghonda Chowk while on her way to work. Police said the accused, a 41-year-old man known to her for six months, fled after the attack but was later arrested. The woman is undergoing treatment at GTB Hospital.

A 24-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with a diluted corrosive liquid near Ghonda Chowk in Delhi’s Bhajanpura area on Tuesday morning, with police arresting a 41-year-old man in connection with the incident.

According to the Delhi Police, information about the incident was received at Bhajanpura Police Station at around 7:10 am on October 6. A police team immediately reached the spot, but the injured woman had already been shifted to JPC Hospital by a PCR van.

At the hospital, police learnt that the woman was residing as a tenant in Ghonda and was on her way to Jafrabad, where she works, when the accused allegedly threw the diluted corrosive liquid at her and fled.

Police said the woman knew the accused, who had been known to her for the past six months.

A case under Section 124(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Bhajanpura Police Station. The accused has been identified and arrested. He is 41 years old.

The victim is currently undergoing treatment at GTB Hospital.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
