OTHER STUDENT DEATHS IN SEPARATE INCIDENTS

The incident comes amid other cases of student deaths reported from educational institutions and residential complexes.

In September, an 18-year-old BBA student, Aditya Arora, died after jumping from the 19th floor of Pristine Avenue Society in Noida. He had reportedly left his family's apartment without informing anyone. His family told police that he had been upset, though the exact reason remained unclear. No suicide note was recovered.

The institute said he had been found using a mobile phone during an exam and had uploaded the question paper on ChatGPT. IIT Bombay said no disciplinary action had been initiated and that he had been counselled. Other students, however, alleged that he had been threatened with suspension and demanded a transparent probe.

In another incident, a 31-year-old second-year MSc Physics student at IIT Delhi died after jumping from the sixth floor of the institute's Lecture Hall Complex on August 22. Police said no suicide note was recovered and the reason behind his death was being ascertained.
