India's tolerance is not its weakness: Ajit Doval's message to world in docuseries

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has opened up about the decision-making and military resolve behind Operation Sindoor, asserting that India’s generosity and tolerance should never be mistaken for weakness.

Speaking in the upcoming two-part Discovery docuseries Declassified: Operation Sindoor, Doval said the objective of the 88-hour military operation was clear: to destroy enemy camps, particularly those linked to the Pahalgam terror attack.

“We had decided the objective of the operation as the destruction of the enemy camps, particularly those who had been responsible for the Pahalgam attack,” Doval said in his first interview since Operation Sindoor.

Doval also issued a strong message about India’s approach to national security, saying the country is willing to take risks and respond forcefully when required.

“Message to the world is very clear - India's generosity or India being tolerant should not be mistaken for its weakness. India can take risks, India can hit hard, irrespective of the consequences,” he said.

The two-part docuseries brings together India’s military and national security leadership to revisit the decisions, preparations and events surrounding Operation Sindoor. According to Discovery, the series features first-hand accounts from those who were directly involved in overseeing India’s response.

In the docu-series, Doval offers insight into the strategic thinking behind the operation and the resolve that shaped India’s military response.

Declassified: Operation Sindoor is set to premiere Saturday at 9 pm on Discovery and the Discovery+ streaming service.

What was Operation Sindoor?

Operation Sindoor was launched early on May 7, 2025, following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. Indian forces carried out precision strikes targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Pakistan subsequently launched its own military offensives against India, following which India carried out further counter-offensives under the umbrella of Operation Sindoor.

The military confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours continued for nearly 88 hours before India and Pakistan reached an understanding on the evening of May 10, bringing the immediate hostilities to a halt.
