Haridwar woman, lover slit her mother's throat for opposing their relationship

A Haridwar woman was killed by her daughter Unnati and her lover Aakash Chauhan after she opposed their relationship. Police said the duo slit her throat in a Brezza car and dumped her body near the Mangalore canal bridge.

A woman in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar was killed by her daughter and the daughter's lover as she opposed their relationship.

According to police, the daughter, Unnati, conspired with her lover, Aakash Chauhan, to kill her mother, Kavita, because she was opposed to their relationship. The two took Kavita in a Brezza car and killed her by slitting her throat with a knife while they were on the way. They then dumped her body near the Mangalore canal bridge and fled.

Police have arrested Unnati and lover Aakash Chauhan. Police also recovered the Brezza car and the knife used in the crime.

The case came to light on August 18, when police received information about an unidentified woman's body near the old Mangalore canal bridge. Inspector-in-charge Bhagwan Mehar reached the spot with a police team and collected evidence. Police sent the body to the Roorkee mortuary for identification.

Later, Arvind identified the body as that of his wife, Kavita.

Following directions from the Haridwar police official, police formed four teams to investigate the murder and identify the accused. The teams conducted searches in different areas and examined footage from around 216 CCTV cameras.

During the investigation, police spotted the Brezza car in the CCTV footage and found it suspicious. Police then increased surveillance and checking along connecting routes.

The investigation revealed that Kavita's daughter Unnati was in a relationship with Aakash Chauhan and that her mother opposed the relationship. Police said this opposition led Unnati to plan the murder with Aakash.

According to police, one of the accused held Kavita while the other slit her throat with a knife. They then threw her body near the Mangalore canal bridge.

Police have arrested both Unnati and Aakash Chauhan and recovered the vehicle and knife used in the murder.
