Property dealer found dead after scuffle with neighbours, family alleges assault

A 48-year-old man died after allegedly sustaining injuries during a brawl with his neighbours in Delhi's upscale Kalkaji area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Manjeet Singh, who was a property dealer. His brother, Dilbag Singh, was also injured in the alleged physical assault and was undergoing treatment.

According to the police, a PCR call was received regarding a quarrel at a residential building in Kalkaji a little after midnight.

Police teams reached the spot immediately and, during preliminary enquiries, learnt that a scuffle had taken place between residents of the ground floor and third floor of the building, officials said.

They were informed that Manjeet and Dilbagh had been rushed to the Delhi AIIMS trauma centre.

Upon reaching the hospital, police found that Manjeet was declared dead on arrival, and his brother was undergoing treatment for his injuries.

The probe into the incident suggests that an argument had taken place outside the building, following which an exchange of words escalated into a physical altercation.

Manjeet was visiting the building for some business-related discussions. His family members alleged that he was beaten to death. The incident was reportedly connected to a property dispute.

Dilbag said that his family were informed late on Saturday evening that Manjeet had been involved in a quarrel. He said that he went to the scene along with his sister only to find their brother lying on the street.

According to Dilbag, the people involved in Manjeet's murder also attacked him. Delhi Police has formed multiple teams to examine CCTV footage and trace the persons involved in the incident.
