Anurag Kumar appointed Delhi Police Commissioner, replacing Satish Golcha
A 1994-batch IPS officer, Anurag Kumar served as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) before his appointment as the Delhi Police chief.

The Centre on Friday appointed senior IPS officer Anurag Kumar as the new Commissioner of Delhi Police, replacing Satish Golcha, who had been serving as the national capital's police chief since August 2025.
A 1994-batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer, Kumar served as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) before taking over the top post.
A day before his appointment, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved his repatriation from the IB to his parent AGMUT cadre.
"With the approval of the Competent Authority, Anurag Kumar, IPS, is hereby appointed as Commissioner of Police, Delhi, with effect from the date of assumption of charge and until further orders," the Ministry of Home Affairs said in an official order.
Kumar has extensive policing experience in the national capital, having previously served in Delhi Police as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in multiple districts before moving to the IB, where he held several key intelligence assignments.
According to the order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Golcha has been directed to report to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi for his next posting after handing over charge to the new police chief.
Golcha, a 1992-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, served as the Director General of Tihar Jail before he was appointed as the Delhi Police chief on August 22, 2025.
