Prof Arun Mohan Sherry appointed new IIM Shillong director

Prof Arun Mohan Sherry, the founding director of the Indian Institute of Information Technology Lucknow, has been appointed as the new director of the Indian Institute of Management Shillong for a five-year term.

The appointment was made by the President of India in her capacity as the Visitor of the Indian Institutes of Management. Sherry, who has headed IIIT Lucknow since 2019, will now lead one of the country's premier management institutions.

ABOUT PROF ARUN MOHAN SHERRY

Prof Sherry is credited with transforming IIIT Lucknow into a fast-growing institute by strengthening academics, research, innovation, industry collaboration and the start-up ecosystem. During his tenure, the institute expanded its academic and research profile while focusing on emerging technologies.

An academician with more than three decades of experience, he has previously held senior leadership positions at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Institute of Management Technology Ghaziabad and HCL TalentCare before taking charge at IIIT Lucknow.

An MSc gold medallist, Prof Sherry completed his MTech in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and later earned a PhD. He has authored numerous research publications in computer science, artificial intelligence and digital transformation and has received several recognitions for his contributions to higher education and institution building.
