A video of a 25-year-old tourist fatally injuring himself after diving into a shallow swimming pool at a resort in Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district has gone viral days after the tragic incident. The accident occurred on June 20 at a popular resort in Malvan. The victim was identified as Shrenik Milind Takale, a resident of Kolhapur district.

According to police, Takale had travelled to Malvan with nine friends for a holiday and was staying at the resort. While some members of the group were in their rooms, others were swimming in the pool.

During the afternoon, Takale allegedly dived into a section of the pool meant for children from a height of around eight to 10 feet. The pool was only about four feet deep, causing his head to strike the bottom with great force. He sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. His friends immediately rushed him to a rural hospital, where doctors declared him dead after examination.

Following the incident, Takale's father and other family members reached Malvan later that night. Police conducted the necessary formalities, registered a case of accidental death and handed over the body to the family after legal procedures.

A video of the fatal dive has since surfaced on social media and is being widely circulated.

The incident has also served as a grim reminder of the dangers of diving into shallow pools. Visitors are advised to check the pool's depth before attempting a dive and avoid jumping head-first into shallow or unfamiliar water, as such mistakes can lead to catastrophic injuries.
