JPSC, JSSC aspirants launch indefinite protest in Ranchi over alleged corruption

Hundreds of job aspirants have launched an indefinite protest in Ranchi against alleged irregularities in recruitment conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), demanding a fair and transparent selection process.

The protesters have set up camp at Jaipal Singh Stadium, turning the venue into a makeshift protest site with tents, bedding, cooking utensils and other essentials, indicating that they are prepared for a prolonged agitation. The demonstration has drawn comparisons with long-running protests held at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, with candidates vowing not to leave until their demands are addressed.

CANDIDATES VOW NOT TO LEAVE UNTIL DEMANDS ARE MET

Aspirants from districts including Hazaribagh, Ramgarh and Bokaro have travelled to Ranchi to participate in the protest. Many said they had come after seeking financial support from their families, determined to continue the agitation irrespective of the hardships involved.

A significant number of women candidates have also joined the protest, standing alongside other aspirants in demanding accountability from the recruitment bodies.

The protesters said they were prepared to intensify their agitation, including launching a hunger strike if the government failed to respond. They maintained that their movement would continue until alleged corruption in the JPSC and JSSC recruitment processes was addressed.

Meanwhile, the student wing of the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) organised a march from outside Jaipal Singh Stadium to Raj Bhavan, raising slogans in support of the protesting aspirants.

PROTESTERS ALLEGE PAPER LEAKS, DELAYS AND CORRUPTION

The aspirants alleged that recruitment examinations conducted by JPSC and JSSC have been plagued by controversies for years. They claimed repeated delays, cancelled recruitment drives, paper leaks, irregular evaluation and favouritism had severely affected thousands of candidates preparing for government jobs.

Many protesters said they had spent seven to ten years preparing for competitive examinations but continued to face uncertainty because of repeated recruitment disputes. Several candidates claimed that prolonged delays had pushed them beyond the eligible age limit, leaving them without opportunities despite years of preparation.

The protesters demanded an independent investigation by agencies such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into the recruitment process. They urged the Jharkhand government to restore transparency and credibility to the state's recruitment system, saying the future of thousands of job aspirants depended on fair and timely recruitment.
