Hyderabad's Nampally Court has issued summons to actor Allu Arjun, asking him to appear in person on Monday, June 22, for a hearing in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case. The court has issued summons to 19 accused persons in the case, while the police have already filed a charge sheet against 23 individuals. The stampede took place on December 4, 2024 during a special show of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre. A woman, identified as Revathi, died in the incident and her son, Sri Teja, suffered serious injuries.
In a recent development linked to the aftermath of the incident, Allu Aravind and Allu Arjun's wife Sneha Reddy visited young Sritej's home and met his family. Reports said they asked about his condition, spent time with the family and assured them of continued support during his recovery.
Court summons and case details
According to Allu Arjun's legal team, "Nampally Court has issued summons to actor Allu Arjun to appear in person before the court on Monday for a hearing. We will give more details later about the matter." The case now moves forward with the court summoning Allu Arjun and other accused persons in the Sandhya Theatre stampede case.
Visit to Sritej's family
Reports said that during the visit, Allu Aravind also promised educational support for Sritej's younger sister. He is reported to have told the family, "Study well, I will bear all the expenses for your education." Reports also said the Allu family, along with the production banner associated with Pushpa, has been helping with Sritej's medical expenses since the incident and that the support is continuing as he undergoes rehabilitation and long-term medical care. Visuals from the visit were later shared by a fan page dedicated to Allu Arjun on social media.
Sritej's treatment and recovery
Sritej was injured in the stampede during the Pushpa 2 premiere event on December 4, 2024 in Hyderabad. He was initially admitted to the emergency department in a semi-conscious condition after suffering injuries outside Sandhya Theatre. He remained unconscious for a long period and later developed respiratory failure and severe neurological complications, which required ventilator support for several weeks.
After spending nearly five months in intensive care, he was discharged in April 2025 and later shifted to a rehabilitation centre in Ramgopalpet for continued neurological treatment. Earlier in 2025, his father, Mogadampalli Bhaskar, told TOI City, "There has barely been any improvement in his health. My son still struggles to recognise us. He mostly just stares, with very little emotion on his face. He is currently undergoing speech and swallowing therapy. We are holding on to hope for his recovery." The family had already received financial assistance earlier, and support is reportedly continuing as Sritej remains under care.
The case is now before the court as proceedings continue against the accused persons, while Revathi's family and injured Sritej continue to deal with the consequences of the 2024 stampede.
