Woman dragged towards car in Dehradun abduction bid, CCTV captures incident

CCTV footage from Dehradun's Raipur area shows two men allegedly trying to force a woman into their car on Wednesday morning. The woman raised an alarm and escaped as police formed three teams to trace the suspects and probe the motive.

A woman was allegedly targeted in a daylight abduction attempt in Dehradun's Raipur area on Wednesday morning, with CCTV footage showing two men trying to drag her towards their car.

The incident took place around 6:45 am when the woman was returning home on her scooter after dropping her daughter off for her college bus.

According to the complaint, two men travelling in a black Swift car approached her and stopped her on the way. CCTV footage shows the men getting out of the car and allegedly grabbing the woman before attempting to pull her towards the vehicle.

The woman resisted and raised an alarm. The men fled the spot after people from the surrounding area began approaching, according to the account.

The woman later went to Raipur police station and filed a complaint. Police have registered a case under relevant sections based on her complaint.

Raipur Circle Officer Vandana Verma said three police teams have been formed to investigate the incident. The teams are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify and trace the two suspects.

Police are also investigating the motive behind the alleged attempt to abduct the woman.

The two men are currently being searched for, and police said they expect to establish the circumstances of the incident soon.
