Man climbs onto car bonnet after crash, shouts 'Roko roko' as driver drives for 2 km

After a collision near Sitarganj's SBI branch in Uttarakhand, a man clung to a moving car's bonnet for nearly two kilometres. The CCTV-captured incident triggered panic on the road and police action, though no complaint has yet been filed.

A road accident in Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar district turned into a dramatic chase when a man ended up clinging to the bonnet of a moving car for nearly two kilometres. The incident, which took place in Sitarganj, was captured on CCTV and reportedly left motorists and pedestrians stunned.

The incident took place near the State Bank of India branch in Sitarganj, where two cars collided. Instead of stopping after the crash, the driver of one of the vehicles reportedly tried to leave the spot.

MAN CLIMBS ONTO BONNET TO STOP DRIVER

In an attempt to stop him, a man from the other vehicle climbed onto the bonnet of the car. But even after seeing the man on the bonnet, the driver reportedly continued driving. The man on the bonnet was repeatedly shouting, "Roko, roko... ruk (Stop, stop... stop it)."

The car then travelled for nearly two kilometres with the man holding on to the bonnet. CCTV footage from the area captured the unusual sequence, showing the vehicle moving along the road while the man remained on its bonnet.

The incident also caused panic among people on the road. Passers-by who noticed what was happening contacted the police through the emergency response number 112.

Police reached the spot following the call and took the vehicle into custody. The driver was also taken into custody for questioning.

NO COMPLAINT FILED YET: POLICE

No case has been registered so far as neither party has submitted a formal complaint, police said.

Speaking over the phone, Sitarganj Circle Officer DR Verma confirmed that the incident took place near the SBI branch. He said police had reached the location after receiving information through the 112 emergency service.

“No complaint has been given by either party so far, because of which no case has been registered. Appropriate action will be taken as soon as a complaint is received,” Verma said.

Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the initial collision as well as what happened afterwards. The CCTV footage is likely to be important in establishing the sequence of events.

The incident has not resulted in a formal case so far, but police said appropriate action would be taken if a complaint is submitted by either party.
