Democrats flip North Carolina, look to wrest many Republican states in early trends
Democrats lead in several Republican states, including in Ohio, Iowa and Texas. They need a gain of three seats to take the Congress after delivering the first flip in North Carolina with a massive win. A loss would threaten President Donald Trump's powers in the last two years of his presidency, though the process would not be that easy.

Polls have closed in most states, and counting is underway in US midterms with Democrats looking to wrest several Republican states to take control of Congress in President Donald Trump's last two years in power. According to the latest AP tally, Democrats are leading 45 seats in Senate as opposed to Republican's 34, including many red states such as Ohio, Texas and Arkansas. The Democrats are ahead in many Republican-held House districts as well, including registering the first flip in North Carolina where Democrat Roy Cooper picked up his side's first big win during the counting.
Republicans losing the Congress would hand Democrats the power to stall Trump's passage for many legislative plans. It would also allow them the power to hold hearings, issue summons, and investigations. However, it would not be that easy because of Trump's veto power and Senate filibuster. The results will hold supreme importance especially at a time of global conflict like Iran war.
