Six NEET-UG candidates approach Supreme Court, allege OMR sheet discrepancies

Six NEET-UG 2026 candidates have approached the Supreme Court alleging discrepancies between their marked answers and NTA-released OMR sheets. They sought an urgent hearing before counselling, claiming their concerns raised with NTA received no response.

Six NEET-UG 2026 candidates have approached the Supreme Court, alleging discrepancies between the answers they marked during the examination and the OMR sheet copies released by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The plea was mentioned before Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Tuesday, with the candidates seeking an early hearing before the commencement of the NEET-UG counselling process.

CANDIDATES ALLEGE MISMATCH IN OMR SHEETS

Appearing for the petitioners, the lawyer informed a bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana that the matter concerns six candidates who scored more than 600 and 650 marks in NEET-UG 2026.

The candidates have alleged that the OMR sheets uploaded by the NTA differ from the answers they had actually marked during the examination.

STUDENTS APPROACHED NTA OVER CONCERNS

The lawyer told the court that the candidates had emailed the NTA and also visited the agency’s office to raise their concerns. However, they allegedly received no response.

After hearing the submissions, the bench agreed to list the matter for hearing.

ABOUT THE EXAM

The NEET-UG 2026 examination was originally conducted on May 3 but was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak.

The NTA later conducted a re-examination on June 21.

The latest plea comes ahead of the NEET-UG counselling process, with the candidates seeking the court’s intervention over their concerns regarding the OMR sheets released by the examination authority.
