Out with father to collect parcel, Hyderabad boy, 3, run over by speeding SUV

A three-year-old boy died after being run over by a speeding SUV in Hyderabad. The toddler was out with his father, Mohiduddin, to collect a parcel when the accident took place.

The vehicle involved in the incident reportedly fled the spot. The boy was rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to another facility, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The accident was caught on CCTV. It showed the child crossing a street alone when the SUV mowed him down.

Following the incident, AIMIM MLA Jaffar Hussain Meraj reached the spot and spoke with police officials. Police have reportedly recorded the registration number of the vehicle and are taking steps to trace it and the driver.

On Saturday, two other road accidents claimed the lives of a total of seven people, including four members of a family, near Hyderabad.

A couple was among four members of a family who died on the spot when the four-wheeler they were travelling in hit a roadside culvert on National Highway-44 (NH-44), officials said.

A fifth occupant, the driver of the car, sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a hospital.

The family was travelling to Shamshabad after attending a Ganesh immersion event in their native village, a police official, cited by news agency PTI, said.

In another deadly road accident, three people lost their lives after a truck hit their stationary vehicle.

The accident occurred after a tyre of the scrap-laden vehicle got punctured, and the three occupants stopped in the emergency lane of the Outer Ring Road to replace it using a jack.

According to the police, a truck, allegedly being driven in a rash and negligent manner, then hit the stationary vehicle.

Three people were severely injured in the incident. While two of them died on the spot, the third, who was shifted to a hospital, succumbed to his injuries, officials said.

The truck driver fled the spot after the accident, per the police.
