Jewellery worth Rs 2 crore was stolen from a parked car in Delhi earlier this week. The complainant, a jeweller from Jaipur, was visiting the Karol Bagh area of the national capital for business purposes when the alleged theft took place on Wednesday, August 19.

According to the police, the windows of the vehicle had been left open. After receiving the complaint, Delhi Police began an investigation and analysed CCTV footage from the area.

The footage showed two people approaching the car on a motorcycle and fleeing the spot after picking up a bag kept inside, police said.

The police have detained three suspects – two of whom are brothers and the third is the owner of the motorbike – in connection with the matter.

However, their exact involvement in the incident is still being investigated. Police are carrying out further analysis of CCTV footage to track the bike's route.

The incident took place a day after two motorcycle-borne men allegedly stole gold jewellery worth lakhs of rupees from a jewellery shop employee's scooter at a traffic signal in Delhi.

The incident took place on Tuesday, August 18, at an intersection in Chankyapuri. The 45-year-old employee was travelling from Karol Bagh to Vasant Kunj to show the jewellery to a customer when the incident took place, police sources, cited by news agency PTI, said.

When he stopped at a red light, two motorcycle-borne men allegedly rode close to him and took away the jewellery bag kept on the two-scooter, before fleeing the scene.

Police are analysing CCTV footage from the area to identify the accused and track their movements, sources said.
