4 women dead as house wall, adjacent building collapse during demolition in Indore

Four women workers were killed and several others injured when a wall and parts of an adjacent building collapsed during demolition work in Sanwer, Indore. Police and administrative teams launched a rescue operation as officials checked whether more workers were trapped.

Four women workers were killed and several others injured after a dilapidated house collapsed during demolition work in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. Rescue operations were underway at the site, with police and administrative officials present.

WALL COLLAPSES DURING DEMOLITION WORK

The accident took place in Sanwer, around 35 km from the Indore district headquarters, while workers were engaged in demolishing the dilapidated house as part of work to rebuild it.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Umakant Chaudhary, a wall of the house, along with parts of an adjacent building, collapsed during the demolition work, trapping the workers under the debris.

Four women workers were killed in the accident. They have been identified as Reena, 30, wife of Lakhan; Seema Bai, 33, wife of Bherulal; Chanda Bai, 30, wife of Rahul Sunwaya; and Sushila Bai, around 50, wife of Ramesh Chandra.

Several workers were injured in the collapse. Four injured people were referred to MY Hospital, while Santosh Bai, 30, wife of Manoj was admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Sanwer.

Those referred to MY Hospital have been identified as Manju Bai, 30, wife of Sunil Solanki; Sunder Bai, 45, wife of Mayaram Sunwania; Sunil, 25, son of Pratap; and Dileep, 26, son of Amar Singh.

RESCUE OPERATION UNDERWAY

Police and administrative officials reached the spot following the accident. Rescue teams were working to clear the debris and ascertain whether anyone else remained trapped underneath.

The incident is being investigated, police said.
