300 kg of gelatin sticks stolen from Indore warehouse, 15-member SIT formed

Around 300 kg of gelatin sticks and 375 kg of safety fuse were stolen from a licensed warehouse in Indore district. Police have formed a 15-member SIT as the breach has raised a major security concern.

A major security concern has emerged in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district after around 300 kg of gelatin sticks and 375 kg of safety fuse were stolen from a licensed explosives warehouse in Sitapat village. Police have registered a case and launched a probe to identify and trace those behind the theft.

The theft took place during the intervening night of September 6 and 7 at a magazine facility operated by Patidar Explosives under the Badgonda police station area. According to police, unidentified persons broke the window grille of the facility and fled with 12 boxes containing gelatin sticks and safety fuses.

15-MEMBER SIT FORMED TO TRACE SUSPECTS

DSP (Rural) Umakant Chaudhary said a case was registered at Badgonda police station after Suraj Patidar, son of the facility's owner Kranti Lal Patidar, reported the theft.

A 15-member special investigation team (SIT) has been formed, along with several other teams, to investigate the case and track down the suspects. Police said they were following multiple leads and contacts as part of efforts to make arrests.

"A 15-member SIT has been constituted, alongside several other teams, to handle the case. We are receiving leads based on various contacts and are making concerted efforts to trace the culprits quickly," ANI quoted Chaudhary as saying.

WAREHOUSE LICENSED SINCE 2014

Police said the facility has held a licence since 2014 and that the gelatin sticks stored there are used for construction work and well-digging operations.

Police further said 13 boxes had originally been stored at the facility. Of these, 12 were found to have been taken, while one box and two safety fuses were later found abandoned in nearby bushes.

According to police, the stolen material includes approximately 300 kg of gelatin sticks and 375 kg of safety fuse. The recovery of the discarded material has helped investigators establish the quantity missing from the licensed facility.

The police are now examining how the warehouse was breached and working to identify those responsible for stealing the explosives and safety material.
