5-year-old girl gets trapped in Greater Noida lift for 30 minutes, cries for help

A five-year-old girl and her maid were trapped in a Greater Noida West lift for around 30 minutes after a power outage, before being safely rescued by residents and maintenance staff.

A five-year-old girl and her maid were trapped inside a lift for around 30 minutes at a high-rise society in Greater Noida West on Tuesday evening. They were safely rescued with the help of the society’s maintenance team and local residents. A video of the incident has also gone viral.

The incident took place at A Tower of Havellia Valencia Homes in Greater Noida West at around 7 pm. The girl was travelling downstairs with her maid when the lift suddenly got stuck between the 13th and 12th floors following a power outage.

After the lift stopped, the girl and the maid remained trapped inside. The maid pressed the emergency alarm for help, but they did not receive immediate assistance. The darkness and humidity inside the lift caused discomfort to the child.

The girl’s parents reached the spot after they were informed about the incident. Around 30 minutes later, the maintenance team and local residents began the rescue operation. They opened the lift doors and brought the girl and her maid out safely.

The incident sparked anger among residents of society. They alleged that their safety is not being ensured despite paying hefty maintenance charges.
