The UGC-NET June 2026 re-examination will begin today, September 9, with candidates appearing for the English and Commerce papers. The Sociology paper will be conducted on September 10.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has ordered the re-examination for these three subjects after an expert committee identified multiple factual, typographical, translation and language-related errors in the question papers, along with repetition of several previously administered questions.

Candidates appearing for the re-test should carefully check their admit cards and reach the examination centre well in advance to avoid last-minute delays. NTA has issued a travel advisory for UGC NET 2026 re-exam candidates in Delhi, urging them to plan journeys early amid expected traffic restrictions linked to the BRICS Summit.

UGC NET 2026 RE-EXAM SCHEDULE

The English paper will be held on September 9 from 9 am to 12 noon, while the Commerce paper will be conducted in the second shift from 3 pm to 6 pm. The Sociology examination is scheduled for September 10 from 9 am to 12 noon.

UGC NET REPORTING TIME

NTA's examination guidelines advise candidates to report at the examination centre two hours before the start of the examination to complete frisking, registration and other formalities. The registration desk will close 30 minutes before the examination begins.

Therefore, candidates appearing for the morning shift should reach the centre by around 7 am, while those appearing for the Commerce paper should reach by around 1 pm.

However, candidates should follow the reporting time printed on their individual UGC NET 2026 re-exam admit cards.

  • Printed copy of the UGC-NET admit card
  • Valid original photo identity proof
  • Passport-size photographs, as required in the examination instructions
  • PwD/ PwBD certificate, wherever applicable

UGC NET 2026: THINGS NOT TO CARRY

Candidates should avoid carrying mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices and other electronic gadgets to the examination centre.

They should also carefully read the instructions printed on the admit card and follow directions given by examination-centre staff during frisking and identity verification.

The UGC-NET June 2026 re-examination will be conducted without any additional examination fee for the affected candidates. The examinations for the remaining 84 subjects are not affected by the re-test.
