Escalating complaints from students and parents over technical disruptions in the CBSE re-evaluation process have now reached the Centre. The development has prompted Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to seek a detailed report on the issue amid growing concerns over the handling of the post-result review mechanism.

The intervention comes amid growing outrage over repeated portal crashes, payment gateway failures, server downtime and difficulties faced by students in accessing scanned answer sheets during the re-evaluation process.

Sources said the minister has sought a detailed report on the technical failures, preparedness measures adopted before the launch, and accountability of agencies handling the process.

The review is also expected to examine operational lapses and assess whether the existing digital infrastructure was equipped to handle the surge in applications after the declaration of results.

WHAT PROMPTED THE CENTRE’S INTERVENTION?

The intervention follows days of complaints from students and parents who reported repeated login failures, inaccessible portals, payment gateway disruptions and abnormal fee displays while applying for re-evaluation and scanned answer books.

Several users alleged that the system either crashed during transactions or generated unusually high charges for answer sheet access, adding to anxiety during the post-result phase. Reports also pointed to blurred scans and difficulties in downloading answer sheets, raising concerns over transparency in the review mechanism.

WHAT EXPLANATIONS HAVE OFFICIALS BEEN ASKED TO PROVIDE?

Officials have reportedly been directed to submit a detailed explanation covering multiple aspects of the technical disruptions that affected the re-evaluation process, as reported by PTI.

These include the reasons behind server downtime and repeated portal disruptions, the causes of payment gateway failures, and the preparedness measures put in place before the re-evaluation window was opened.

Authorities have also been asked to clarify the technical oversight mechanisms adopted during the process, accountability of vendors and agencies involved, and the corrective measures taken after complaints from students and parents surfaced.

The review is further expected to assess whether the digital infrastructure and system planning were adequately prepared to handle the surge in traffic following the declaration of CBSE results.

HOW HAS CBSE RESPONDED TO STUDENT CONCERNS?

Amid growing anxiety, CBSE has assured students and parents that every “genuine concern” raised regarding scanned answer books and evaluation issues would be reviewed through the prescribed mechanism by subject experts.

The board also urged students not to panic and reiterated its commitment to fairness, transparency and accuracy in the evaluation and re-evaluation process.

CBSE further extended the deadline for applying for scanned answer books till May 24 after complaints emerged over portal crashes, blurred pages and payment glitches.

DID THE BOARD TAKE ANY CORRECTIVE MEASURES?

In response to the larger controversy around evaluation and review procedures, CBSE earlier reduced charges related to re-evaluation and answer-sheet services to make the process more accessible for students. The board maintained that corrective mechanisms remain in place and review requests will continue through official channels.

CBSE has also dismissed misinformation circulating online regarding any cancellation of the re-evaluation process, calling such notices fake and advising students to rely only on official communication.

WHAT NEXT FOR STUDENTS AWAITING REVIEW?

With the Education Ministry stepping in, attention is now on the findings of the report and whether systemic changes will follow before future post-result processes. For students and parents, the episode has renewed questions over digital readiness in high-stakes examination systems.

The Centre’s intervention signals that the technical disruptions will now face closer scrutiny, even as CBSE maintains that no student will be disadvantaged and all legitimate grievances will be examined fairly.
