The registration window for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 will close today, September 27, for candidates applying without a late fee. Eligible candidates can complete their applications through the official GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).

Those who miss the regular deadline can still submit their applications with a late fee until October 5, 2026.

WHO CAN APPLY?

GATE 2027 is open to eligible undergraduate students and graduates from disciplines including engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts and humanities. There is no age limit for appearing in the examination, and candidates can attempt GATE any number of times.

Indian nationals must register through a verified DigiLocker account. Candidates are advised to create or update their DigiLocker accounts before beginning the application process to avoid delays.

GATE 2027 will be conducted as a computer-based test across 30 papers. Candidates can appear for one paper or choose up to two papers from the permitted combinations.

Candidates should keep the following dates in mind:

• Registration begins: September 2, 2026
• Regular registration deadline: September 27, 2026
• Registration with late fee: October 5, 2026
• Application rectification: October 14 to 21, 2026
• City allotment notification: January 4, 2027
• GATE 2027 examination: February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027
• GATE 2027 result: March 19, 2027

OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS

The application fee is Rs 1,000 for female candidates and candidates belonging to the SC, ST and PwD categories. For all other candidates, the fee is Rs 2,000. Candidates can pay online through UPI, net banking, or credit and debit cards.

IIT Madras, which is conducting GATE 2027, has introduced Robotics and Automation (RA) as a new test paper. The institute has also announced syllabus changes for some existing papers.

Candidates are advised to complete their applications before the regular deadline and check the official GATE 2027 website for further updates.
