A video showing National Security Guard personnel outside Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York has set social media abuzz, just days before Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's expected wedding celebrations. The high-profile wedding is reportedly scheduled to take place at the iconic venue on July 3.
According to TMZ, "tons of National Guard members showed up to MSG on Tuesday night", while streets surrounding the venue were reportedly shut as preparations gathered pace. The footage quickly fuelled speculation online, with many wondering whether the heightened security was linked to the high-profile wedding.
The publication also reported that a "massive meeting between NYPD and National Guard" took place outside Madison Square Garden, suggesting coordinated security activity in the area.
However, a representative for the National Guard dismissed claims that the deployment was connected to the wedding. The spokesperson said the agency has "1,000 members operating in NYC on a daily basis" and routinely stations personnel at major transit hubs such as Penn Station and Grand Central Terminal. The representative added that the deployment was "NOT connected to Taylor's wedding", according to TMZ.
Swift and Kelce are reportedly preparing for a tightly guarded wedding ceremony at Madison Square Garden on July 3. The couple is expected to host between 1,100 and 1,200 guests, with strict confidentiality measures reportedly in place, including non-disclosure agreements for attendees and electronic invitations designed to minimise leaks.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce began dating in 2023. While their relationship became public when Swift attended a Kansas City Chiefs game in September that year, the couple had already been seeing each other privately for several weeks after Kelce attempted to meet her following her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City in July 2023. The duo got engaged in August last year.
