Delhi CM Rekha Gupta leads Yamuna riverbank cleanliness drive across 28 ghats
Taking part in the campaign at the riverfront in Delhi's Geeta Colony area, CM Gupta stressed the importance of participation by the masses in ensuring a clean and pristine Yamuna.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other members of her Cabinet on Sunday undertook a cleanliness drive at 28 ghats of the Yamuna river across the city.
Taking part in the campaign at the riverfront in the Geeta Colony area, she stressed the importance of participation by the masses in ensuring a clean and pristine Yamuna.
CM Gupta also noted that broken idols and cloth had been discarded in the river. She urged the public to refrain from throwing such items in the river.
The four-hour cleanliness drive began at 6 AM. Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) Delhi unit president, Harsh Malhotra, also partook in the drive at the Yamuna Bank stretch of the river. He was joined by several other party leaders and workers.
According to officials cited by news agency PTI, the cleanliness campaign also witnessed participation from thousands of citizens, including volunteers of more than 500 social and religious organisations.
YAMUNA'S CLEANLINESS A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY: CM
CM Gupta said that the responsibility of maintaining the cleanliness of Yamuna is the collective responsibility that requires both the government and the society to work together.
The Chief Minister vowed that the campaign would not remain limited to a single day and that her government would ensure that similar drives are organised at various locations on a regular basis. She urged citizens to participate in such efforts.
She said that projects worth more than Rs 1,000 crore have already been approved for the cleaning of the Yamuna. The CM noted that 12 new decentralised sewage treatment plants are being set up in the Najafgarh area at an expense of Rs 860 crore under the AMRUT scheme to prevent the flow of untreated sewage into the river.
Delhi ministers Parvesh Sahib Singh, Pankaj Singh, Ravinder Indraj, and Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta also participated in the cleanliness drives at different Ghats.
BJP MPs Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Manoj Tiwari and Swati Maliwal also joined the campaign with other leaders and workers of the party.
