Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has reportedly directed to implement “Gyanodaya” Shikshya Ru Samruddhi Scheme: A KG to PG Free Education Initiative, informed the School & Mass Education Department.

Dr. N. Thirumala Naik, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary to Government, in a letter to the Director, Higher Secondary Education, Odisha The Director, Secondary Education, Odisha, has asked to implement the “Gyanodaya” – Shikshya Ru Samruddhi Scheme: A KG to PG Free Education Initiative in the eligible educational institutions of School and Mass Education Department from the Academic Session 2026-27.

“In inviting a reference to the subject cited above, this is to inform you that the Government of Odisha, in a landmark welfare initiative approved by the State Cabinet, have decided to provide free education to the students taking admission from KG to PG in the eligible educational institutions of the State,” read the letter.

“Accordingly, Government in School and Mass Education Department have decided to waive off admission fee in all the eligible Government, Fully Aided and Newly Aided Secondary Schools and Government and Aided (488 and 662 Category) Higher Secondary Schools with effect from the Academic Session 2026-27,” it added.

The letter further said, “In this connection, it is directed to instruct all the field functionaries under your jurisdiction not to collect any admission fee from any student during the time of admission. Further necessary changes in the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal shall be effected immediately.”

The detailed guidelines in this regard will be communicated later, Naik said.
