CSIr recruitment 2026 for UPSC CSE 2024 non-recommended candidates: Apply for 100 Assistant Section Officer posts

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has invited applications for recruitment for 100 Assistant Section Officer (ASO) positions, with the application window open until July 13, 2026.

However, CSIR is only accepting online applications from the non-recommended candidates of Civil Services Examination-2024 (CSE-2024) conducted by Union Public Service Commission. The vacancies are available for Assistant Section Officer (General), Assistant Section Officer (Finance & Accounts), Assistant Section Officer (Stores & Purchase).

Eligible and interested candidates can submit their applications online through the official portal from 23 June 2026 to 13 July 2026.

Eligibility criteria

CSIR ASO Recruitment 2026 is open only to a specific group of candidates. The recruitment is exclusively for UPSC CSE 2024 non-recommended candidates whose names are listed on the UPSC Pratibha Setu Portal.

Moreover, they should also posses a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or institution. There is no restriction on the stream or subject of graduation.

Age Limit (As on 13 July 2026)

The maximum age limit for applying is 33 years as on 13 July 2026. Age relaxation is available for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen category. No other means/mode of application will be accepted.

Selection Process

The candidates will undergo Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). Then the final merit list of candidates will be done based on their total marks in UPSC CSE 2024 (Mains + Personality Test).

Selected candidates will be allotted General, Finance & Accounts, or Stores & Purchase cadre based on merit and preference.Then all necessary documents will be verified.

Selected candidates will be appointed to Group B (Non-Gazetted) posts under CSIR with an attractive salary package and Central Government benefits.
