New Delhi: An illegal detention, torture, subsequent death of 25-year-old man in police custody is shaking Andhra Pradesh.
The incident came into the spotlight as the 25-year-old, Sai Krishna, disappeared moments after being arrested and taken to police custody.
Though the police denied the custodial torture and said Sai was detained for a brief while at a local police station and released.
He’s no where to be found, his family alleged police committed injustice by killing him.
Further, the family claimed the officials deliberately hid information regarding his whereabouts.
These allegations fueled outrage across the state and prompted to order a Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigation into the matter.

However, the investigation reveals critical elements were deleted from CCTV cameras installed in the police station to conceal the facts about Sai’s unlawful detention and death, his family stated in a writ petition filed before the AP High Court.
Meanwhile, a police inspector working on the case has been arrested and suspended.
Sources revealed he’s charged under various section for murder, unlawful confinement and destruction of evidence.
SIT sources said they have sufficient evidences that he may have died in police lockup.
More information is awaited as investigations are underway.
