The Government of Odisha has rolled out a special two-day practical Odia language training for government officers and employees, aiming to make administration more citizen-focused. This program, scheduled for June 10 and 11, 2026, is designed for staff who haven’t gone through official Odia training before. The goal is to get people using Odia more in day-to-day official work, backing up the state’s Odia Official Language Policy in a big way.

The training focuses on the real-world needs of government offices. Language experts and seasoned trainers will run the show, walking participants through common official terms and current administrative phrases in Odia. People will get hands on practice—writing letters, preparing reports, handling official correspondence, and talking directly with citizens, all in Odia.

The bigger aim is to close the communication gap between government workers and the public, especially for folks in rural or remote spots. Officials see this as a move that will open up information and services, making them more transparent, accessible, and efficient when shared in the native language. By giving Odia more space in government offices, the administration hopes to build a more inclusive kind of governance, and at the same time, protect and celebrate Odisha’s rich linguistic culture.
