Odisha Govt Committee Investigates Alleged Medical PG Exam Paper Leak at MKCG

A state government-appointed committee on Wednesday launched its investigation into allegations that a postgraduate medical examination question paper was circulated from MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur while the examination was in progress, intensifying scrutiny over the conduct of the Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS) examination.

The three-member panel, constituted by the Health and Family Welfare Department on July 31, visited the medical college to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged leak. During the visit, the team held meetings with the institution’s senior officials, interacted with faculty members and reviewed CCTV footage as part of efforts to establish how the question paper was allegedly circulated.

The inquiry committee comprises Additional Secretary Bijay Kumar Dash, Special Secretary (Medical Services) Bijay Kumar Mishra and Joint Director of Medical Education and Training Dr Anil Kumar Sahu.

At MKCG Medical College and Hospital, the panel met Dean-cum-Principal Dr Hari Krishna Dalai and Superintendent Dr Sudeepa Dash before assessing available evidence linked to the incident. Officials said investigators are attempting to determine both the source of the alleged circulation and the sequence of events that led to the question paper appearing outside the examination hall.

While declining to disclose details of the ongoing investigation, a member of the committee said the probe is underway and that its findings will be submitted to the state government within the prescribed timeline. The committee has been given two weeks to complete the inquiry and submit its report.

According to officials, the issue surfaced after the question paper of the second theory examination held on July 27 was allegedly circulated on social media shortly after the test commenced. Preliminary information suggested that the circulation originated from MKCG Medical College and Hospital, prompting the government to order a formal investigation.

Parallel to the state-level probe, the medical college has constituted its own five-member internal inquiry committee under the chairmanship of Superintendent Dr Sudeepa Dash to examine the incident from the institution’s end.

OUHS officials said the university is extending full cooperation to both the government-appointed committee and the internal inquiry to facilitate a comprehensive investigation into the alleged breach.
