20 injured as clash erupts during Muharram Akhada event in Balasore

Balasore: As many as 20 people suffered injuries after a dispute at a Muharram akhada event at Dargah Maidan in Balasore on Friday, which led to a free-for-all, police sources said.

Initial reports say an argument broke out between participants and onlookers, and a stone pelting episode led to a panic during a traditional akhada performance

The argument soon turned into a clash, resulting in injuries to over 20 people at the ground at night.

Following information about the incident, the local police rushed to the ground, intervened, and brought the situation under control.

The injured have been sent to Balsore general hospital for treatment.

A probe has been initiated by the police to ascertain the reason for the clash, and the identified culprits have been taken to the police station.
