Fisherman goes missing after falling in Daya river, search operation underway

Pipli: In a tragic incident, a fisherman went missing after he accidentally fell into the swollen Daya river in Puri district today.
The incident took place near Jagulaipada village of Kanas area in Puri.
As per sources, father and son duo had ventured into the Daya river for fishing. Father Prakash Behera and son Diwana Behera had gone to the river for fishing. While fishing, he accidentally slipped and fell into the river and went missing.
On being informed about the incident, the locals along with the fire and emergency services personnel launched a search operation. Till the last reports were filed, the fisherman has not been traced.

Yesterday, 15 fishermen were feared missing in Bay of Bengal. Their fishing trawler disappeared in rough waters off the West Bengal coast.
The trawler named ‘Maa Kali’carrying a total of 15 fishermen had departed from Shankarpur Fishing Harbour in West Bengal on Sunday. It reportedly went missing after facing strong waves.
Among the fifteen missing fishermen, three were from Baleshwar belong to Uluda village. Uluda village is located under Bhograi block.
They have been identified as Rabindra Majhi, Jagannath Majhi and Jayaram Majhi. The remaining 12 fishermen on board are from West Bengal.
