Three civilians killed, several homes damaged after violence broke out in Manipur

Imphal: A fresh violence broke out in which three civilians lost their lives and several homes got burned in Kangpokpi, Manipur early morning today.

When the violence broke out at around 4.10 AM in Loibol Khullen village where exchange of gunfire reportedly took place in a part of the area.

The reason behind the clash and the groups involved in the violence are yet to be revealed.

The victims of the incident are identified as Letkhongam Haokip, Tinmary Haokip and Jangminlal Haokip. All of them were the residents of the village where the incident took place.

In the village, a community named Kuki lives, and it is said that several houses of the community were set on fire and extensive damage was caused to civil property during the violence.

The violence has reportedly being described as a targeted assault. The area is being monitored by the officials.

No official statement by the authorities is issued yet and the reason behind it will be revealed after the probe.

Further investigation into this matter is underway.
