Heavy rain alert: All schools, Anganwadi centres to remain closed in Subarnapur on Friday

Subarnapur: Due to continuous rainfall being experienced due to a low pressure system in the region, all schools and Anganwadi centres in Odisha’s Subarnapur district have been ordered shut on Friday as a precautionary measure.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted similar rainfall in the State till July 18 with heavy to very heavy showers predicted for Friday at several locations across Odisha.

Subarnapur has been receiving incessant downpour for the last few days and in order to ensure safety of students, the district administration decided to keep all educational institutions shut for the day.

As per reports, Subarnapur Collector had issued the order keeping in view the present weather scenario and further chances of heavy rainfall.

The administration has also appealed to parents not to send their children outside without any urgent need and advised the general public to take all precautionary measures during the rainfall and keep following weather advisories.

Meanwhile, the administration is keeping a close watch on the developments and will take appropriate decisions if it keeps raining heavily.
