Traffic movement halts as massive tree uproots on Bolangir-Kantabanji highway

Patnagarh: The traffic movement on the Bolangir-Kantabanji State Highway (SH-42) was affected after a massive tree got uprooted and blocked the road near Gangasagar in Odisha. Hundreds of vehicles came to a complete halt on the Patnagarh-Kantabanji road.
The fallen tree blocked the busy highway, leaving vehicles stranded on both sides of the road for some time. Fortunately, no casualties or damage to any vehicle were reported.
According to officials, the tree was uprooted due to continuous rainfall in the region and fell across the carriageway, completely obstructing traffic. Commuters travelling between Bolangir and Kantabanji were forced to wait until the road was cleared.

On receiving information, Patnagarh Tehsildar and the Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and cleared the road after removing the tree. The team cut the fallen tree into pieces and removed it from the highway, restoring normal traffic movement after several hours.
The authorities have advised people to remain alert due to the heavy rain in the region.
