Fire breaks out at sofa warehouse in Puri after firecracker mishap

Puri: Fire broke out in a Sofa Warehouse in the district of Puri at around 3 am today, as the city was celebrating Sital Sasthi.

Due to large amounts of cotton and other material used to make sofa’s stuffed inside warehouse burst into fire.

Reports claim that the firecrackers, which were used for celebrations earlier, caught fire.

About two truckloads of cotton were damaged in the incident.

The fire was reported when firecrackers went off near the warehouse, as per initial information, and the stored cotton caught fire rapidly.

The fire brigades were alerted, and three fire tenders arrived on the scene to contain the fire.

Sadar Police and surrounding Police stations also reached out to help them and remove the public from the site.

According to officials, three fire engines removed the tin roof of the Warehouse and started dousing water directly on the burning contents.

The burning material was pulled out from the warehouse with no damage to life.
