Five prisoners taken ill in Jharpada Jail in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: As many as five prisoners including four under-trial prisoners were taken ill at Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar this evening raising a serious question over the safety and security of the inmates.

The injured prisons have been identified as Sajid Khan, Seemanchal Kunj, Bikash Paital, Babula Pradhan and Rupu Singh.

After learning about the sickness of the five inmates, the jail authorities rushed them to the Capital Hospital in a critical condition.

While three of them are admitted to ICU in a critical condition, two others have been shifted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, from Capital Hospital. However, the cause of illness is unclear.

Meanwhile, police have beefed security arrangement at the Capital Hospital with the aim to avoid any untoward incidents.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena reached the Capital Hospital and enquired about the health condition of the sick prisoners.
