NSS Volunteers to be engaged for anthropometric assessments of children at Anganwadi centres

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to engage the NSS Volunteers for anthropometric assessments of children at Anganwadi centres under the SUPOSHIT Odisha Mission.
In his letter to the Principals of all the Colleges having NSS, Higher Education Department Director Kali Prasanna Mohapatra said that the SUPOSHIT Odisha Mission (SOM), Government of Odisha, aims to achieve sustained reduction in malnutrition and make all Anganwadi Centres malnutrition-free by 2029 through elimination of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) and Severely Underweight (SUW) among children aged 0-6 years.
As part of the Mission, periodic height and weight assessments of children at eligible Anganwadi Centres shall be undertaken for validation of nutritional status and timely intervention, the letter said adding that the exercise shall be conducted under the Women & Child Development Department with support from the Department of Higher Education.
For this purpose, shortlisted colleges through their NSS units are requested to mobilise Volunteers (Women Volunteer may be given priority) as field enumerators.

- Eligibility: Only +3 2nd year/3rd year/PG 2nd year female NSS volunteers shall be eligible for this.
- Deployment: Two fomole volunteers in a team having smart phone
- Financial Incentives:
- Rs 500 per volunteer per Anganwadi Centre for valid assessment. In addition to Rs 500 shall be given to colleges for arrangement of travel plan.
- Total Rs 4000 per PO for monitoring & supervision.
- Total Rs 8000 per DNO for coordinating and supervising in respective district..
- Commencement of Survey: From 20th July 2026 onwards, Details programmes will be intimated later on. The purpose of the survey may be given at Annexure-II.
- Selected volunteers shall be virtually oriented to undertake the survey.
NSS Programme Officers have been directed to coordinate for mobilisation, training, travel and field activities with support of NSS District Nodal Officers and SOM State Team.
The principals have been requested to initiate mobilisation and submit details of interested female NSS volunteers in the prescribed format in MS Excel format to W & CD Department through the email hreday@samagragovernace, in latest by July 9, 2026.
