Woman killed, 16 injured as pilgrims’ vehicle overturns on Badrinath highway

New Delhi: The unfortunate incident led to the death of one woman, and 16 pilgrims were injured when a tempo traveler fell over on the Badrinath National Highway close to Jyotirmath in Uttarakhand on Friday morning.

Sources say that the tempo traveler had a group of pilgrims from Ghaziabad traveling to the Badrinath shrine during the Char Dham yatra season, and it crashed near Jyotirmath, which is a route to Badrinath, when the vehicle had allegedly lost control.

Authorities and police have rushed to the site along with the response teams, rescue teams that rescued the pilgrims from the accident vehicle and shifted them to the local medical centers, and the injured have been admitted.

The officials said that only one woman died in the accident and 16 were injured. The medical authorities have been looking after the condition of the injured pilgrims, and some of them have been admitted to the medical centers too.

The accident led to a disruption on the Badrinath National Highway and caused some delay in the traveling pilgrims.

Authorities had issued stern warnings to travelers during the ongoing Char Dham yatra about caution while traveling on the narrow roads in mountainous regions.

An investigation has been launched to determine the exact reason behind the accident, and police might also look into other reasons during the probe, such as road conditions and the driver’s fault, etc.

This accident has overshadowed the joyous pilgrimage.
