Low Pressure forms over Bay of Bengal, Orange warning issued for four districts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A fresh low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining the West Bengal-Odisha coast. The low pressure is also expected to intensify further during the next 48 hours.

Under the influence of the low pressure, Odisha is expected to receive widespread rainfall over the next five days till July 29, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued orange warning for heavy to very rainfall for four districts of Odisha including Kataka, Anugola, Dhenkanal, and Kendujhar. Under its influence, several parts of the state are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by gusty winds.

An yellow warning for 20 districts, forecasting very heavy rainfall, according to weather forecast predicted by the Regional Meteorological Centre.

The fishermen has been prohibited from entering the sea during the next three days.

The Odisha coast and adjoining sea area is predicted to experience gusty winds with 40 to 50kmph wind speed. Meanwhile, on land the wind speed will likely increase to 60kmph.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecasted that the rainfall across the state will continue till July 31, 2026.
