KIIT-DU organises 22nd annual convocation; Eminent personalities urge students to embrace opportunities and innovate

Bhubaneswar: The three-day 22nd Annual Convocation of KIIT Deemed to be University (KIIT-DU) concluded today, with eminent personalities urging graduating students to embrace opportunities and innovation and fulfill their social responsibilities. More than 10,000 graduates received degrees during the convocation.

Nand Kishore Yadav, the Governor of Nagaland, praised KIIT’s journey as a lesson in “vision, perseverance and determination”. He appreciated founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the leadership, faculty and staff for their contributions to higher education and national development.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Lahiri, the Vice Chairperson of NITI Aayog, said India’s future would be shaped by technology and modernisation, while stressing the need to preserve the country’s traditions alongside technological advancement.

Congressman Michael Baumgartner, Member of the United States House of Representatives, said he was pleased to be part of the convocation at KIIT and described educational institutions as vital to strengthening peace and stability in the world. Dr. Brock Tessman, President of Montana State University, USA, also addressed the gathering.

Other speakers during the three-day event included Motilal Oswal, the Co-Founder of Group Managing Director and CEO of Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd.; Dr. Goutam Roy Chowdhury, the Chairman and Chancellor of Techno India Group and Techno India University, Kolkata; and Chitra Tripathi, a senior Journalist at ABP News. Several international delegates also attended the event over the three days.

Motilal Oswal praised Dr. Samanta’s dedication, saying that the KIIT and KISS campuses had been built through his “dedication, efforts and sacrifices” since 1992. Prof. Gobardhan Das, Member, NITI Aayog; Prof. Cezar Ionuț Spînu, Rector of the University of Craiova, Romania; and Prof. Avesh Kumar Tyagi, Dean and Senior Professor, Homi Bhabha National Institute, also spoke.

Dr. Sanjiv Goenka, Founder and Chairman, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, told graduating students that immense opportunities lay ahead of them as they stepped into a resurgent India. Dr. Ravi Pachamuthu, Chairman, SRM Group, and Chancellor, SRM University Delhi-NCR, also addressed the graduates.

Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the founder of KIIT & KISS was present during the three day convocation, while the convocation was presided over by Ashok Kumar Parija, Chancellor, KIIT-DU. Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Pro Vice Chancellor (Admn.)-cum-Registrar, were among the university leaders present.

Over the three days, the Founder’s Gold Medal, Chancellor’s Gold Medal, P. K. Bal Memorial Gold Medal, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd. (PPL) Gold Medal, Nanibala Memorial Gold Medal, Krushna Chandra Panda Memorial Gold Medal, Dr. Wati Paramguru Memorial Gold Medal, Vice-Chancellor’s Silver Medal, Dr. Nitish Kanta Silver Medal and Manju Rath Silver Medal were presented to students for their accomplishments in different fields.
