IMD issues heavy rain alert for 18 States, check names

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in 18 states as the monsoon becomes stronger.

The 18 states may also experience thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds over the next four days. Hill stations to face intense rainfall that may result in landslides, roads blockage and flash floods.

Delhi is likely to face light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds today, but there will be no changes in temperatures over seven days of time.

Uttar Pradesh is expected to witness heavy rain is likely in many districts for the next 24 hours. West Bengal and Bihar will face heavy rainfall for two days.

Rajasthan’s Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Churu districts will be showered with light rainfall for the next two days. Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh might witness landslides and flash floods in the hilly regions.

People are advised to avoid flooded roads, follow advisories. Landslide and flash flood risk in hills. Check traffic updates before travel.
