OT&AS Officer Bhimsen Tudu dismissed from service

Cuttack: The Odisha government on Saturday dismissed newly appointed Odisha Taxation and Accounts Service officer Bhimsen Prasad Tudu from government service following his arrest in a Chandrika Hembram death case.
According to a release of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Tudu will not be eligible to get a Government job in the future.
“Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has dismissed newly appointed OT&AS officer Bhimasen Tudu from Government services. Tudu will also not be considered an eligible candidate for any Government employment in the future,” it stated.
“It may be noted that Tudu, who was recently recruited OT&AS officer Bhimsen Tudu, did not attend the induction programme since June 4, 2026. Also, he did not appear for his final examination at the Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management (MDRAFM). During the same period, he was arrested by Barang Police in connection with a death case and was subsequently remanded to judicial custody. Since he remained in police custody for more than 48 hours in connection with a criminal case, action was taken in accordance with the law, and he was dismissed from Government service with immediate effect,” it added.

Tudu was arrested by Baranga Police in connection with Chandrika Hembram death case, after which he was remanded to judicial custody. As he remained in police custody for more than 48 hours, disciplinary proceedings were initiated under service rules, leading to his termination from government service. The state government has also declared him ineligible for any government employment.
Meanwhile, police had earlier arrested Tudu on June 13 for his alleged involvement in abetting the suicide of Chandrika Hembram, a 28-year-old third-year MBBS student of Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in Balasore.
Her body was found floating on June 4 from the sandbed of the Kathajodi River near Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Setu in Cuttack.
