Jilted lover attacks girlfriend’s mother and uncle in Balasore

Balasore: At least two people sustained serious injuries after a man allegedly attacked his girlfriend’s mother and uncle with a sharp weapon during settlement discussion in Balasore district.

The incident took place in the station premises near Sahadevkhunta police station late on Thursday night.

According to reports, a discussion was being held between the man, his girlfriend in the presence of the girl’s mother and uncle to settle issues among them in the station premises. During the meeting, an argument reportedly broke out between both sides.

Police said the accused, who had reportedly come from Cuttack, suddenly attacked the woman’s uncle and mother with a sharp weapon, seriously injuring both of them.

The injured were first admitted to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital. However, due to their critical condition, both were later shifted to a hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment.

After the attack, the accused allegedly tried to flee from the area on a motorcycle. Police said he was later caught after his bike reportedly ran out of petrol while escaping.

Sahadevkhunta police have detained the accused and started an investigation into the incident. Further details regarding the motive behind the attack are yet to be officially confirmed.
