Center to introduce anti-paper leak bill in Lok Sabha today

New Delhi: The center has introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in Lok Sabha. This bill will curb paper leaks and irregularities in public exams like NEET, JEE, CUET and other central entrance exams.

The new Bill has recommended much more severe and harsher punishments for anyone trying to facilitate a paper leak.

Anyone convicted in paper leak would get up to 5 to 10 years in prison and have to pay a fine ranging from Rs 50 Lakh to Rs 1 crore.

The Bill also fixes exam centres, institutions and agencies culpable if they are found facilitating cheating or leaking exam papers.

In addition, the government has provisioned for fast-tracked investigation and for these cases be put on speedy trial.

The government says the new law is aimed at preventing future paper leaks and ensuring that public exams are conducted fairly.
