Rayagada: 2 leopard skin seized, 5 arrested as Forest Dept conducts raid

Rayagada: In a joint operation by the Raigarh Forest Department and Kalahandi South Forest Department, 2 leopard skins were seized. Five persons were arrested in this connection.
The arrested accused persons have been identified as Gopi Gouda, Gupteshar Gouda of Sunger village in Kashipur Block, Iswar Naik of Amarasinguda, Suar Singh Majhi of Pudgasil village and Kalu Majhi of Kadikipadar village.

According to the information received, a wildlife mafia group had arrived to finalize a deal to sell two tiger skins to traders in front of the Hanuman temple in Kashipur Block of Rayagada district. However, during the transaction, Forest Department officials conducted a raid and seized two leopard skins from the illegal wildlife traders. Police also seized three motorcycles and a knife from their possession.
