IMD issues heavy rainfall warning for next five days in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar-based regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued heavy rainfall warning for next five days in Odisha.

According to the weather department, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur till June 29. The IMD also issued orange and yellow warnings for the weather activities.

Day 1 (Valid upto 8.30 AM of June 25):

  • Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the district of Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, and Koraput.
  • ORANGE WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
  • YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Balangir, Nawrangpur, Rayagada, and Koraput.
  • Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh.

Day 2 (Valid from 8.30 AM of June 25 to 8.30 AM of June 26):

  • Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the district of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
  • ORANGE WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri.
  • YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
  • Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.

Day 3 (Valid from 8.30 AM of June 26 to 8.30 AM of June 27):

  • Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi.
  • YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawrangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh.

Day 4 (Valid from 8.30 AM of June 27 to 8.30 AM of June 28):

  • Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, and Malkangiri.
  • YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawrangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

Day 5 (Valid from 8.30 AM of June 29 to 8.30 AM of June 30):

  • YELLOW WARNING: Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Gajapati.
