New Delhi: An Indian-origin man was detained in California on suspicion of killing his wife, Jasmine Gill, who he said was abducted by US immigration officers.
The accused has been identified as Gurinder Gill (28). 30-year-old Jasmine was last seen September 30 at her home in Sacramento. Her cousin reported her missing October 4.
As per reports, Gurinder said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers had arrested his wife while she was checking the mail, but an ICE spokesperson said the agency was never at their home.

While being questioned, he was inconsistent in his answers and learned that the couple were engaged in a pending divorce and child custody battle.
On October 1, authorities found burned human remains in El Dorado County. The remains were confirmed to be those of Jasmine.
Gurinder was later taken into custody and charged with his wife’s murder. He is currently at the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail.
